Child Welfare Nelspruit was established in 1937. It is guided by a constitution that is regularly reviewed to comply with relevant government legislation.

Child Welfare SA Nelspruit Finances are regulated by the Public Finance Management Act of 1999.

Annual General Meeting is held for finance accountability and transparency to the public. It is further held to comply with the legal requirement outlined in the charity’s governing document for evaluation of service delivery by the public.

Donations to Child Welfare SA Nelspruit are eligible to receive Article 18 A tax exemption certificates for donors to be reimbursed via SARS.

Governance:

  • Child Welfare SA Nelspruit is governed by a Board of Management that complies with the King IV standard of governance, and comprises of community members and elected officials.
  • The Management Committee consist of the Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary, Vice Secretary and additional Members.
  • The committee consist of 9 Members and fully represents the communities where Child Welfare Nelspruit operates.

Who is benefitting:

  • Mainly vulnerable children that were abandoned, abused, trafficked, neglected and exposed to exploitation and harm.
  • Children of parents affected by the challenges of serious illnesses and may be receiving palliative care. These include: severe heart disease, chronic kidney disease, advanced stages of cancer and HIV/AIDS, sever stroke, etc
  • Children exposed to harm due to drug/substance addiction of parents.
  • Children with uncontrollable behaviours.
  • Victims of Gender Based Violence when minor children are involved.
  • Learners with educational difficulties – as well as children suffering from mental illnesses or physical disabilities – by referring them to relevant stakeholders.
